Many real LEED exam questions (CFC, HCFC, and HFC, etc.) come from this document. You need to download it for free and read it at least 3 times. Pay special attention to the Table on ODP and GWP on page 3. You do not have to remember the exact value of all ODPs and GWPs, but you do need to know the rough number for various groups of refrigerants."  This latest trend regarding refrigerants (CFC, HCFC, and HFC) for LEED Exams has a lot to do with LEED v4 Credit Weighting. I passed the LEED Exam on the Mock Exam and LEED v4 BD&C by Gang Chen books alone. I just had these two books, and printed out the USGBC/ GBCI PDF's he recommends. I passed both the Green Associate and BD&C portions. All I did was spend a month on the GA portion, then the 2nd month on the BD&C portion using the above-mentioned materials and that's it. I do have experience as a Mechanical Engineer with LEED projects in the past (HVAC and Building Envelope Energy Calculations/ Modeling) which helped on the procedural stuff, but Gang Chen's books cover this also. Get a highlighter so you're more engaged with what you're reading (slowly) and you'll be fine.Review your highlights a week-and-a-half prior to the exam and follow the author's advice on test prep. The Mock Exam book gives you an excellent "feel" for the test questions (which felt familiar in style on the actual exam), and the questions themselves had info in them that came in handy on the actual test.

I just passed the LEED AP v4 BD&C exam and this was pretty much the only study material I used. I never studied the actual reference manual at all...just this book. That being said, you definitely need to know EVERYTHING in here though. After feeling I had a solid grasp on the material, I took the exam and passed with a 176...so it was CLOSE!!! Definitely a solid place to start...but it is up to you if you require additional materials.

Studied off this book for 2 months. Passed the exam today. This book is really all you need. Don't get discouraged by all the "memorizing" he tells you to do. I didn't spend much time trying to memorize the information, just read the book at least 3 times.If you're going to buy practice exams, use a website like gbes. I bought the mock exam book, but the questions were not that close to the actual exam.

Well what can I say, I passed a couple of hours ago. Not by a lot, but just enough to pass. Though the author makes this claim right off the bat that you will not get 100%. I used this book and the associated practice exam. In addition to all the recommended documents LEED website had suggested.Just do what the man says and you will barely pass like I did.

Buyer beware if you are not a technical person stay away from this book. Gives the information flat out but not in the usual textbook format. I would, however, suggest the books recommended by the USGBC especially if you want to be successful at passing the exam!

I actually bought this as a better way to study than a $250 online guide. The included study tips are very helpful. It's organized similarly to the USGBC credit library but with explanations, broken down mnemonics and organized codes and standards, I've already taken the Green Associate exam and the practice exam in the back of the book is very accurate

The free preview on amazon is basically the only thing worth reading. I would purchase practice tests instead.

Another great read by Flora Ferrari. I really liked the characters Isabel and Isaiah. They were interesting, well-developed and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written with a happily ever after. I especially like the extended epilogues. If you like older man/younger woman romances, you will enjoy this book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.IN this book we meet Isabella "Isla" and Isaiah. Isabella agrees to help her brother out by being one of his contestants on his new reality show. Isla has recently lost her job and before she has to worry about her rent her brother asks her to help him out and fill in for a missing female contestant. However she is told she will make $1000.00 and will be eliminated in the first challenge. All that changes though when she takes off her blindfold and sees the man she has been lusting after for years. Isaiah has waited 4 years to make his move. He wanted to wait until she finished college and now that she is done he is going to get her brother to tell him where she is. However when he agrees to help out his best friend when one of the male contestant drops out of his show. Isaiah thinks this will be the leverage he needs to get her number. Little did he know when the blindfolds come off his partner is none other than the woman of his dreams. Can these two find a HEA or will the reality show they are on be more than they can handle?Holy cow is this book hot. This is another amazing hit for this author. It does have its ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin this story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

The author notes that (Page 5): "On my travels, I tried to use soccer--its fans, its players, and strategies--as a way fo thinking about how people would identify themselves in this new era."He explores the role of soccer by a series of case studies of teams--in Serbia, Scotland, Brazil, England, Jewish teams, the Ukraine, and so on.In the end, I am not sure how well he links these various nationalistic loyalties to teams with globalization.However, this is an intriguing book that gets one to thinking about much larger issues.

Franklin Foer attempts to simplify the world with his "less economic than cultural" view of planet Earth in, "How Soccer Explains the World: An Unlikely Theory of Globalization." The book isn't about what led to globalization, but rather what has become of it, and more specifically what it's done for the sport of soccer. It focuses more on what the sport means to so many people. How they perceive, consume and embody it. The athletes are idolized. The teams are revered. The sport itself is worshiped. Foer traveled the globe in the quest to understand soccer as it strengthens national ties, crosses borders and seemingly extends the arm of diplomacy between feuding states. He posits his argument by discussing the ways in which club teams field rosters of multicultural players. The pitch knows no national boundaries. Continental and global tournaments bring teams from all over together in competition, with the World Cup "[putting] the 'ethnic stereotypes' of nationalities on display." Foer uses the defensive oriented Italians and the rugged brutality of the English national teams to illustrate the homogenous traits that remain on national team squads despite global communities' growing connectedness. Technology, mainly satellites and high-speed internet, builds metaphorical bridges between communities on opposite sides of the globe. Foer's passion for soccer came as a result of it. Media consumption accelerates the sport's growth and increases and enhances its fan base. The modes and methods of soccer consumption vary, with some going to the extreme. Italian media outlets even go so far as to review, critique and referee the performance of referees. Controversial calls are scrutinized, with the help of slow motion replays. Statistics are accumulated with extreme precision, with hopes of exposing bias. Foer uses the passionate Italians as the epitome of die-hard soccer fans. One of the most inspiring in Foer's work is the relationship between soccer fans and their clubs in Islamic nations. With a society and culture stifled by an oppressive religion, Muslims use soccer as an escape from their highly regulated lives. "Fans will cure in the foulest, most clearly verboten language. They will throw punches that can't be justified by any reasonable interpretation of the Koran," Foer wrote (p. 218). The allure of the game makes it difficult for a large portion of the Muslim population, as they are prohibited from attending a live match. Women living in Islamic regimes occasionally risk their own safety by disguising themselves as men to sneak into a match at Azadi, the 120,000 seat staduim in Tehran, Iran. Their actions muster up a faint voice for a population typically overlooked. The Iranian people's celebration after their national team qualified for the 1998 World Cup exemplified just that. For that night, Iranians were free. Women took off their hijabs, throngs of Iranians consumed alcohol in the streets while listening to western pop music. When the militia arrived to shut down the parties, they couldn't resist partaking in the festivities. Foer didn't possess, nor need, and expertise in the sporting arena to publish his work. While a vast amount of reporting and journalism experience and an unbridled passion for soccer enhances the final product, no "expertise" in either, nor globalization, was required to understand and disseminate the material. He admitted his 248 page thesis doesn't come close to mastering and abridging the complexity that is globalization theory. He even goes so far as to say he took on the task fueled by personal interest. Yet, what Foer does accomplish is shining a light on areas in the soccer world that even embedded journalists wouldn't uncover. The interconnectedness of soccer clubs in Italy and the ruling class. The working poor in the Balkan nations, who cling to their favorite teams as if it was life support. To some, the worlds sport means the world to them. Readers of Thomas Friedman's work may feel slighted at the use of "globalization." While offering only multicultural teams and ease of access to sporting events to explain his theory, Foers book, while interesting, was but several lengthy accounts of teams and their fans and "stadiums [he] most desperately wanted to see." As a journalist, Foer should have at least considered objectivity before leaving his desk at the New Republic. Soccer fans would undoubtedly enjoy the book, however globalization theorists, anthropologists and sociologists would feel deceived by the book's title. In all, Foer's passion makes for a pleasurable read. While soccer may not bring the world together-- as many Americans delight in despising it -its fans, no matter the demographic, comprise the entire population. While all may not indulge, everyone is represented.

I grew up in the US before youth soccer programs grew to their current popularity. Thus, when I began playing in a weekly office soccer game and found that it was truly a beautiful game, I immediately tried to immerse myself in soccer history, strategy, and lore. I added this book to my reading list because of the title. I am, by trade, a political economist - combining globalization and soccer seemed like a charming idea. I was grossly disappointed.The book is written in a journalistic style that is easy to read and the anecdotes are rather entertaining. That is, however, the extent to which I found this book at all enjoyable. First, the author's narrative often fails to connect the anecdotes with the broader point that he is attempting to make. Even worse, the author often makes claims and offers no support for those claims. When reading pop-nonfiction, one must, to some extent, trust the author's claims. However, the author is attempting to connect soccer to well studied social phenomena - and on many ocassions gets it wrong. Moreover, the author's obvious biases make it incredibly difficult not to scoff at his assertions, especially when he offers no support other than his own word.Additionally, the title suggests that soccer will be somehow tied to globalization, and yet the author only mentions globalization in terms of continued racism. I am inclined to believe that despite his experience with political journalism, the author has only the most basic understanding of the popular notion of globalization and is incapable of providing a meaningful application and analysis. This book is not an analysis or a fresh look at soccer. Instead it is the result of a journalist taking a year off from work, traveling around to watch soccer games and collect stories, and then trying to find a way to write them up in a book with a more intriguing title than "Tales from the pitch".On more than one ocassion, I read segments of the book aloud to various people for cheap laughs - colleagues, my political economist/soccer fanatic boyfriend, my boyfriends soccer fanatic friends. It is at best, a collection of interesting stories about soccer with some very poor narrative in between. If that's all you're looking for, read this book. If you are looking for something more substantive, look elsewhere.

My husband is a Baha'i, and this book has taught me some wonderful facts about the faith. We are raising our children to be Bahai's, and I certainly need to know more about it in order to guide them. So far, its great! The size is a little awkward in my hands, but that's a small price to pay for the knowledge within.

Beautifully organized by theme, with short, meaningful explanations on the topics.

This is an excellent book for anyone interested in knowing more about the Baha'i Faith

It is a good book, but a bit simple. I would like some more historyand some more information about all the empires that fell.

That basics of the book are pretty basic, which is just what I was looking for. I guess I just put four stars because I am actually a Christian man seeking to find out about the Bahai' religion to learn how to work a little better with those of that religion.

When I heard there was a new book with basic info on the Baha'i Faith, my first thought was how big is this book going to be...? I've been a Baha'i for more than 10 years, and there is so much to learn about it, I wondered how it was all going to fit into a regular-sized book. I was pleased to find that despite the brevity (the book is less than 200 pages even if you count the appendices and bibliography, and the typeface is nice and big) I could not find a single thing that the author left out that I felt was important enough to include.This is a great resource for people who don't have much time to read but who want to know enough of the practical details to be well-informed about the emerging phenomenon that is the Baha'i Faith. It's written in a question-and-answer style that makes it easy to skip around and focus on the topics you're most interested in. I think it will be very useful for teachers, social workers, politicians, neighbors, family members and friends of Baha'is, and people of any religion who are interested in the Interfaith movement.I have to admit I was surprised and disappointed to find a couple of typos in the book. This is the first Baha'i book I've read where I've come across that. Other than that, I think the author did a good job of presenting the basics of the Faith in an objective manner, and by including plenty of quotes from the Baha'i Writings in context of the Q&A framework, there is still plenty of 'meat' in the book... and not a trace of fat.NikiDI received this book free from the Baha'i Publishing Trust through its Bloggers Network book review program. I have loved this three book epic for several years, and decided to revisit it through this audio addition. The story is told through the voices of two characters, one a man, one a woman. The author, Lian Hearn, has created a world with an amazing depth of imagination that rivals Middle Earth in terms of beauty, stark reality, and excitement. The Ninja-like skills of the male hero are not overdone at all, but add great interest.It takes place in an invented Japanese-like medieval land. The breadth of the story is magnificent and I consider it to be second only to Lord of the Rings. I am puzzled why Peter Jackson or equivalent movie maker has not yet taken this on, although it would take considerable skill to do it well, and in today's market they would probably make 6,7, or 8 movies out of what has been created as three.The audio addition is a great way to enter this story, because the voices chosen to tell the story are so good, so appropriate; but I also still love reading the books, which I have done at least three times. Suggestion. Skip the follow-up book; it does not live up to the main three. If you areenjoy fantasy novels, tails of warriors, a magnificent love story, or just amazingly good writing, I highly highly recommend Tales of the Otori.

I found this book to be a worthy addition to the series, following the intrigue and developments in the clans of 'Japan.' The writing is clear if a little poetic, at times, and the pace holds the attention well without feeling like an action movie.I would like to note that some reviews of the series mention that it clearly isn't Japan and that the series is insulting to Japanese history. My edition clearly states that this is not a historical novel; rather, it is inspired by Japanese culture and history without actually being part of it. I say that's clear enough for me, and that I welcome semi-historical fantasies based in Eastern traditions. Not every fantasy-fiction story has to take place in pseudo-Western Europe.

Rating System:1 star = abysmal; some books deserve to be forgotten2 star = poor; a total waste of time3 star = good; worth the effort4 star = very good; what writing should be5 star = fantastic; must own it and share it with othersSTORY: The continuing adventures of Takeo and Kaede as they try to connect with each other at a time when the Tribe is trying to assassinate Takeo, Akida is trying to take over all the known kingdoms and the Otori lords have sent the clan armies to hunt and kill Takeo.MY FEEDBACK:1) First off, this was a fairly satisfactory ending to an epic storyline. It didn't have the same level of mystic elements as the first book nor the rising action of the 2nd, but it resolved all the necessary characters and sub-plots well2) I agree some of the other reviews that the author had an opportunity to exploit some battle scenes but decided in skirting the issue. The author decided to quickly resolve the battles instead of taking the reader through the mayhem and chaos of such events. A missed opportunity in my opinion3) The emotional bonds between the characters are believable and connecting with the reader4) I've read a lot of fantasy and whenever "prophecy" is introduced into the story it MAY add to the mystic elements or detract from the story by giving things away too early. I believe this happened here in that some opportunities to increase the suspense of a scene was lost due to me as the reader already knowing that Takeo should win based on the prophecyOVERALL: It still flows with the same feel as the previous two books. It was a must read to know how the story ends and made me feel like so much has happened since the first book that I'll soon need to go back and start the trilogy all over again.

Not unlike the sword yielded by Takeo, Kato (The Snake) the story is sharp and wonderfully surprising in it's twists and turns as well as it's beautifully descriptive setting of mood and scene at every turn. Truly the tale is engrossing in it's scope and depth.

The book was so well written that I felt I was some how entwined within it. I feel as if if I have a better understanding of loyalty and commitment. In some odd waiting my mind has been altered. Yes, it sounds weird to me also .

I bought the first book in this collection on a whim and have been delighted with the entire series. Usually, with serials, the second part is not as strong as the first and third parts because the second part is merely there to transition from the beginning to the end but in this case the author has managed to continue the dramatic tension throughout the series brilliantly. There is truly something for everyone--adventure, romance, history, fantasy--and because of the brevity the books are so easily read that you almost feel cheated because you want more. But there is more! And that's what a good serial ought to do--leave the reader wanting more!

The Tales of the Otori series are all excellent listening for long car trips - I found myself sitting in the car until the chapter finished even after a long trip, and that is saying something.Set in a fantasy realm that bears a LOT of similarities to Tokugawa era Japan.Wishing someone would make an assassin's creed style game set in the world described in these books, that would be spectacularly fun and beautiful.

Just a the right combination of love and longing, intrigue and betrayal, battle strategies and tactics, spies and assassins. I could not put this book down! Book three, had the most action so far. Stellar series!
