Simple review: I enjoyed reading this book, even though it's mostly a visual book. Great visuals. I love the historic, but intimate read into the Helleu's family natural talent and business savvy for creativity.

The book is large and beautiful but mostly contains pictures of various models used by Chanel. There wasn't any photos of Chanel. Not what I expected.

I have long been a commercial photographer, and I'm yet to find a more inspiring book than this one. With the turn of every page I hear a calling to get up, grab my camera, and do something about it.Finally a compilation of one of the most artisticly marketed brands around.Bravo!

This is a brilliant book full of gorgeous photography chronicling Chanel's ad campaigns over four decades.The book is large and very heavy, the photos both color & b/w are large and crisp printed on high quality paper.The majority of the book is visual but the first part is an introduction detailing Mr. Helleu's life and career. The rest of the book is an illustrated encyclopedia from A-Z detailing the various artists and themes used in Chanel's campaigns.This is a highly recommended book for Chanel's fans and all those interested in beautiful fashion photography. The book would also make a great coffee-table book as it is relatively heavy for book shelves.N.B. The book comes in a sleek thick black slipcase, while the book itself is white.

JOHN J. WILD is a distinguished professor of accounting at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He previously held appointments at Michigan State University and the University of Manchester in England. He received his BBA, MS, and PhD from the University of Wisconsin.
John teaches accounting courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has received numerous teaching honors, including the Mabel W. Chipman Excellence-in-Teaching Award and the departmental Excellence-in-Teaching Award, and he is a two-time recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award from business graduates at the University of Wisconsin. He also received the Beta Alpha Psi and Roland F. Salmonson Excellence-in-Teaching Award from Michigan State University. John has received several research honors, is a past KPMG Peat Marwick National Fellow, and is a recipient of fellowships from the American Accounting Association and the Ernst and Young Foundation.
John is an active member of the American Accounting Association and its sections. He has served on several committees of these organizations, including the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award, Wildman Award, National Program Advisory, Publications, and Research Committees. John is author of Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and College Accounting, all published by McGraw-Hill Education.

Be careful when renting the E-book for your class. I never dreamed when I rented it for my kindle that it would expire in only 60 days. Every other textbook I have rented on this site has lasted the entire semester but this one expired on me in the MIDDLE OF CLASS A FEW DAYS BEFORE MY TEST. I could have bought the book NEW for only $25 more than the E-book rental price!! I was unable do do any of my work or follow the lesson properly and I am struggling to study because I have no book. I tried to rent it again and it wouldn't download properly on my device no matter what I did. Amazon couldn't get it to work for me either and quickly refunded my money but I still have no book and no compensation for the money I wasted on this E-book. I would never have rented it if I had known that it cost so much money for a mere 60 day rental period. Please take care that this does not happen to you. My $600 dollar accounting class could be wasted because of this.

I hate the class but yes the book came on time and as described!

It’s great! Really used to go back but the online Connect helped a lot for me to understand the concepts. I think it’s new the way they developed it for accounting and being a biology major changing to account was very radical but everything seems to be doable, I recommend the book but the online Connect work that you have to buy like the access code does much more to understand.

Highly recommend if you do not want book for future use.

It is great to have all the stories in one volume. It would be more enjoyable if the images had been formatted as full pages. I've been reading this book to my children, and the illustrations are too small for them to see. They're fine when I zoom in, but selecting each one and enlarging it is tiresome.

Lovely to be able to share these beautiful illustrations on my tablet with small children as I read them the stories I loved as a child. I hadn't read some of the lesser-known stories either before or for many, many years and was somewhat surprised how scary parts of them were, so for those I edit but we can still enjoy the illustrations.

Delightful the only negativ and that is not a fault of the book itself , is that the illustrations turn black and white when I read on the kindle. On other devices the colours are as good as can be. Some may argue that the morals of the stories are outdated but I say read it together with the children and then talk about any passages that were scary or outdated in morals.

I loved reading this to my granddaughter every week. Since it had a dictionary, we could lookup unfamiliar terms and animals. We enjoyed exploring the fabulous realism and even the inferred violence of the animal world. We were dismayed when our over three thousand pages came to an end.

Beautiful stories that are nice to have out of the original board-book form because those are so bulky. I don't own the books of say The Tailor of Gloucester or Squirrel Nutkin, and they are all so lovely to read and look at Miss Potter's drawings.

You can quickly go to any of the seven chapters, and zero in on the part you want to know about, or you are trying to recall and apply.In short, this book is a major contribution to the entire community of people involved with tertiary level teaching. One might argue that every university faculty member should know what is in this book, no matter what their "split" is across research and teaching. Even faculty who are essentially supported full time on research funds, and who have a limited amount of formal classroom teaching, will benefit tremendously form this book. Since their interactions with Ph.D. students and and research staff are still essentially "teaching", an understanding of student learning will prove to help with the student supervisory process.For university-level faculty from any type of institution who do classroom, studio and laboratory teaching- whether they are from a smaller scale liberal arts college, or from one of the strongest of the "R1" research universities - this book will prove invaluable. I have been a professor for 20 years. Like many of us, I never had meaningful or significant formal training in designing a learning experience aimed at helping my students really learn both the content and skills envisioned by the course. Over the years I have read a variety of books on teaching, attended several conferences focused on improving teaching and tried all sorts of things. During that time, I encountered most of the ideas and practices found here, as well as many others. Most seemed like a good idea, but there was little more than anecdotal basis for their effectiveness.This book pulls together the most important and most effective ones, presents them in one place, points to the research supporting their utility and provides solid actionable steps for implementing them. Ambrose and company practice what they preach in the way they construct their work.In my view, this should be required as part of every new faculty seminar and re-read in a faculty reading group by every teaching faculty member every two to three years to reinforce good practices. It wouldn't hurt to design teaching portfolio reflection prompts and evaluation instruments around them around them either.The kindle edition works well, though some of the charts and exhibits are a bit difficult to read - that's a known weakness of the medium. What I do like about the kindle version is the ability to highlight, annotate and share selections socially. These features create possibilities for creating and reinforcing a community of practice dedicated to research-based teaching excellence. I do wish our friends at Amazon would make it possible to highlight passages across page breaks so that they would show up on the kindle web page cohesively.
