This book left me feeling excited and wanting more. Luckily Tich Nhat Hanh has written many books for me to explore.

Thich Nhat Hanh is a Viet-namese Zen-buddhist. Unlike many, many, many other books on Buddhism, this book attempts to explain the core concepts of Buddhist teachings. Where most Buddhist books get lost in glowing exhausting praises of how wonderful Buddhist concepts are, while actually never getting around to explaining the concepts, this book presents a loving detailed summary of the concepts. If you're curious about Buddhism, start here. If you're still curious, this gives you a center to branch out from.

After reading this book I have grown to see a deeper meaning to his words. This book is AMAZING and its filled with wisdom. It shows you how to live the Buddhist life. On one of the pages it discusses sexual suffering and how it can hurt you, families and children. If you are looking for the path you will find it inside this book.

I found it hard to put this book down. I had been practicing mindfulness for the last year and a half before I decided to become more aware of the Buddhist path and this is the perfect book if you're just beginning to follow this path. It's well written and goes into great detail the basics.

I went to Indonesia and was enthralled by the Buddhist and Hindu culture that dominated their lives. I was wondering what a religion of peace really looks like. I am still about 100 pages from finishing this book, but I think it will find a place on my periodic read list. Ultimately just reading this has made me more mindful (present), nicer to those around me, and just a generally good book for "self help."

This is my favorite book on Buddhism. Thich Nhat Hahn presents all of the major buddhist ‘lists’ and ‘principles’ in an approachable and consistent style informed by his comprehensive view of Buddhism. His explanations really help me feel the truth of these ideas, and to see their underlying connectedness. I love his metaphor of the wave and he ocean.While I have started picking up additional books about Buddhism, I will be surprised if any of them speak to me as directly or effectively as this classic. I expect to return to its basic clarity repeatedly for many years. This week, for example, I will share the chapter on Sutta interpretation with my Sutta Study group.

This book, and the audio book as well really changed my quality of life. Simple phrasing with concepts we can all relate to. My depression was significantly worse before reading this book, and now I can kick myself in the butt a little bit and get myself going. Given, I've also had two years of therapy, but this book was what really sealed it for me. Im not only less depressed, but I'm less anxious, and much more happy. Thank you SO much Thich Nhat Hanh, your insights mean the world to me!

I've only made a couple of recipes from this so far, but they've both been great! I'm also enjoying reading it (although it makes me hungry!).I want to give a special shout-out to the cold sesame noodles. I made them yesterday for some family that are gluten-free, so (since I couldn't find rice noodles), I used GF corn. They worked really well! The sesame sauce was light and flavorful, the vegetables gave a nice contrast to the noodles (a mandolin was helpful in julienning them finely), and it was a lovely lunch on a very hot and humid day, especially since it was mostly make-ahead.I'm a sucker for scallion pancakes, and these are yummy. ETA: However, the extra-flaky ones on Serious Eats are even better; I did a compare and contrast. If you're using the basic recipe: at least double the scallions, and use toasted sesame oil (or hot toasted sesame oil) for the oil involved.I am especially looking forward to trying the hot & sour soup. It's a personal favorite, especially when I have a cold or allergies, and this looks like a fine version. Also the moo shu!Now, despite what the book claims, a lot of the more esoteric ingredients- like the pancakes for moo shu (and no, flour tortillas are NOT the same!)- are not readily available in regular supermarkets. Some of them are not even available in our admittedly small, local Asian market. This is frustrating, because i'd love to try some recipes that include them! I wish the author had included mail-order sources for such.But- the recipes are very clear and well-written, and the pictures are lovely and can be quite helpful.The worst problem with making these dishes at home is... I still have to cook them! One of the charms of take-out is that one does not have to COOK it oneself!More ETA: I was not impressed by the kung pao chicken. I adore kung pao. This just lacked pretty much all heat. OK, our peppers were a bit old, but still- I would not want to BITE one! The flavors were lovely and made a really nice dish... but it wasn't anything like kung pao as i have known and loved it. If you make it, make sure yo adjust the heat; and probably double the amount of peanuts and scallions- or even more with the scallions. Or add sweet pepper. (I do not suggest celery because I hate it, but it's a classic American/chinese component.) Another crunchy thing might be good, like water chestnuts, diced.I do think this is a good cookbook. However, it looks to me like knowing a bit about diaspora-chinese cooking will be a help in adapting these recipes to approach what you want.

A native NYC resident, I fought my innate skepticism and trusted in the sheer number of positive reviews (hoping that most were not from lands without actual Chinese restaurants). I was not disappointed. The first recipe I tried was barbecued spareribs -- WOW. Just what I had hoped for -- real takeout style Chinese food! Look forward to trying General Tso's chicken next!

I chose this book for its simplicity. I started with hot and sour soup, (I had not tried recipes like this before ) from the vegetable stock recipe. Excellent results!Straightforward instructions on prep, cooking and technique withclear explanation of the ingredients and what made the soup more hot or sour, and I felt I mastered the recipe. Note; serving size, number of servings are not included with each recipe.

The problem with most cookbooks, ethnic or otherwise is that they're typically written with such complexity that to follow the recipe can be daunting. Diana Kuan takes recipes to the simplest level, no extraneous info, getting right to what's needed to make good Chinese food. She also makes suggestions, when appropriate for substitute ingredients, as not everyone lives near a Asian market. A great addition to any cookbook library.

This is a great book with a wonderful, variety of dishes, including deserts. The instructions and equipment explanations are clear and complete. As for the extensive pantry and equipment lists…start with several favorites with similar ingredients and go on from there instead of purchasing everything at once.

This IS by far the best cookbook I've ever bought myself! At first I was somewhat hesitated, but then, it was just easy. I was tired of ordering takeout and throwing money out the window; plus ordering takeout is not healthy! My favorites recipes that I've actually done are: Kung Pao Chicken, General Tso's and Yang Chow Fried Rice!!!The best investment of a cookbook ever hands down! If you love Chinese takeout just as much as I do, then this book is for you!!!

This book is fantastic! Growing up on the east coast, my boyfriend and I are used to good chinese takeout. Since moving to Colorado, we have tried many, many places and they are all terrible. I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend and it has changed my cooking world! I have made so many recipes from this book and everyone has turned out great.. the cold sesame noodles, crab rangoon, vegetable dumplings, hoisin chicken wings, Sichuan cucumber salad, kung pao chicken, general tso's chicken, stir-fried sesame chicken, orange chicken, pineapple chicken, beef w/broccoli, sweet and sour pork, stir-fried asparagus tip.... YUMMMMM! The recipes are easy, accurate, and delicious. This has become my favorite cookbook to give as a gift.

This is all about the Chinese food that Americans love. Great explanations of ingredients, and substitutions for some Asian ingredients. Bought this in kindle version, bc it was offered in BookBub and sounded like something the family would enjoy eating (the kids love Panda). Now i want a paperback version, as it would be easier to use in the kitchen w/ messy hands.

I just live Chinese takeout. These recipes are right up my alley. Already did sweet and sour pork, fantastic. Will be doing more.

Pay special attention to the Table on ODP and GWP on page 3. You do not have to remember the exact value of all ODPs and GWPs, but you do need to know the rough number for various groups of refrigerants."  This latest trend regarding refrigerants (CFC, HCFC, and HFC) for LEED Exams has a lot to do with LEED v4 Credit Weighting. I passed the LEED Exam on the Mock Exam and LEED v4 BD&C by Gang Chen books alone. I just had these two books, and printed out the USGBC/ GBCI PDF's he recommends. I passed both the Green Associate and BD&C portions. All I did was spend a month on the GA portion, then the 2nd month on the BD&C portion using the above-mentioned materials and that's it. I do have experience as a Mechanical Engineer with LEED projects in the past (HVAC and Building Envelope Energy Calculations/ Modeling) which helped on the procedural stuff, but Gang Chen's books cover this also. Get a highlighter so you're more engaged with what you're reading (slowly) and you'll be fine.Review your highlights a week-and-a-half prior to the exam and follow the author's advice on test prep. The Mock Exam book gives you an excellent "feel" for the test questions (which felt familiar in style on the actual exam), and the questions themselves had info in them that came in handy on the actual test.

I just passed the LEED AP v4 BD&C exam and this was pretty much the only study material I used. I never studied the actual reference manual at all...just this book. That being said, you definitely need to know EVERYTHING in here though. After feeling I had a solid grasp on the material, I took the exam and passed with a 176...so it was CLOSE!!! Definitely a solid place to start...but it is up to you if you require additional materials.

Studied off this book for 2 months. Passed the exam today. This book is really all you need. Don't get discouraged by all the "memorizing" he tells you to do. I didn't spend much time trying to memorize the information, just read the book at least 3 times.If you're going to buy practice exams, use a website like gbes. I bought the mock exam book, but the questions were not that close to the actual exam.

Well what can I say, I passed a couple of hours ago. Not by a lot, but just enough to pass. Though the author makes this claim right off the bat that you will not get 100%. I used this book and the associated practice exam. In addition to all the recommended documents LEED website had suggested.Just do what the man says and you will barely pass like I did.

Buyer beware if you are not a technical person stay away from this book. Gives the information flat out but not in the usual textbook format. I would, however, suggest the books recommended by the USGBC especially if you want to be successful at passing the exam!

I actually bought this as a better way to study than a $250 online guide. The included study tips are very helpful. It's organized similarly to the USGBC credit library but with explanations, broken down mnemonics and organized codes and standards, I've already taken the Green Associate exam and the practice exam in the back of the book is very accurate

The free preview on amazon is basically the only thing worth reading. I would purchase practice tests instead.

Another great read by Flora Ferrari. I really liked the characters Isabel and Isaiah. They were interesting, well-developed and have chemistry. The story is interesting, well-written with a happily ever after. I especially like the extended epilogues. If you like older man/younger woman romances, you will enjoy this book.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.IN this book we meet Isabella "Isla" and Isaiah. Isabella agrees to help her brother out by being one of his contestants on his new reality show. Isla has recently lost her job and before she has to worry about her rent her brother asks her to help him out and fill in for a missing female contestant. However she is told she will make $1000.00 and will be eliminated in the first challenge. All that changes though when she takes off her blindfold and sees the man she has been lusting after for years. Isaiah has waited 4 years to make his move. He wanted to wait until she finished college and now that she is done he is going to get her brother to tell him where she is. However when he agrees to help out his best friend when one of the male contestant drops out of his show. Isaiah thinks this will be the leverage he needs to get her number. Little did he know when the blindfolds come off his partner is none other than the woman of his dreams. Can these two find a HEA or will the reality show they are on be more than they can handle?Holy cow is this book hot. This is another amazing hit for this author. It does have its ups and downs that I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin this story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
