I have read Robert's book and I know him personally. This is a terrific reference for anyone interested in learning how to build their own telescope. Robert presents very concise instructions and provides granular detail for several project telescopes. Be sure to pay attention to the cautions he presents and do not expect to build a telescope in a weekend - this is for those who are patent and plan well in advance for a long term project. I will say that Robert Clark is probably the smartest man I have ever met.

I bought this for a motorcycle trip to the Black Hills. No GPS on my bike so I got a map for every state I had to pass through. It did it's job and helped me get there and back.One additional comment: Call me old school but I love a good map. My car GPS makes me dumber every time I use it. I find myself blindly following it's directions only to find that I could have saved time and gas by planing the route myself. I also seem to remember the directions better when I plot it out on an "old-fashioned" map.

I needed a map that would serve as a back up if the GPS failed us. As our first road, we don't want to be left stranded and get lost, so we ordered this map. This map comes with great detail and useful tools to determine mileage and time. Highly recommend for any travelers needing a trustworthy map.Only drawback is that the map is huge, so a person might need to make a stop to look through it. The map covers a good portion of the front windshield.

Maps are going the way of the record player, news papers and dial telephones. Stopped in a super sized gas station/truck stop in North Florida ( the gate way for millions of tourists annually) and could not find a map anywhere in the place. The guy at the cash register said they stopped selling them years ago! Everyone uses GPS. The books stores have a few local fold out maps but mostly guide books. Obviously I'm not making the media transition very gracefully. Guess that makes me a technology fossil....I prefer the bigger view and information charts provided by a huge, printed, fold out map to the microscopic, telescoping view on a minuscule screen that more often than not is consistently wrong enough to earn my distrust. Besides, they don't disappear when the signal for my cell phone says "out of area". So, thank you Amazon and Rand McNally for keeping cartography,as I learned it, undated, accurate and available.

I like paper maps - I'm one of those people who goes off on random trips, but well researched. My preferred method of traveling an area is to read a book on it, mark up a map with a highlighter, and set off, sort sticking to the highlighted route, but not necessarily. This is a great map for that, although the split in the front and back sides of the map went right through a part of the state I would have preferred to have on the same side. Ah well, I suppose no one consulted me on the shape of the state, and they had to split the map somewhere.

Maybe I missed it on the description, but this map splits the state in two, with half on one side of the paper and the other half of the state on the flip side of the paper. Not helpful if you're looking for a map of the entire state.

Perhaps I didn't read the fine print of the description closely enough, but...realize that West Texas is on one side of the map and East Texas is on the other. As a result, if you bought two maps and overlapped them to have one for the wall the actual dimensions would be about twice the area. I did buy it to put on the wall but my plan is to use pushpins to track where I've traveled and concentrating on East Texas suits my purpose. I agree it probably would not tolerate a lot of folding and unfolding but it's really big so I'm not sure it would work well for trying to read in the car. And I suppose if you live on the edge of the map, you might be consulting one side, flipping it over as you travel, then back again, etc.

I am a roadmap collector and recently bought the RandMcNally maps for all 50 states, plus a US Interstate map. I like the large scale used and helps considering my vision is less than ideal. I also use these maps to supplement the official maps that I also have for the entire country

Half of California is on one side, the rest on the other, split right across the area we were traveling South of San Francisco. This is an oversized map, and Rand-McNally has a good reputation, so I was expecting the larger size indicated more detail. That is unfortunately not the case and most of the added space is what the computer guys term "white space"; i.e., nothing in it. Moreover, the larger size makes the map more awkward to use in a car, especially when you need to flip between the front and the back. We were tracking missions in the area and ended up relying on an older, smaller, and out of date map we had along from a previous trip. In comparison, our older map had all of California on one side and had more detail.

Amazing art. Love the book!

I am not usually the type of person that would buy a book to look at all the pictures. I am a techie and my art is computer motherboards. I thought this book was going to have more information on the jewelry. I have never had a Lark book so didn't know the reference. I have to say that this book is beautiful and I really like it. I just keep looking through it and never seem to get tired of trying to figure out what the artist must have been thinking to create the pieces in the book. Although it wasn't what I needed, it is a keeper.

Bought one for myself and loved the variety of pendants and necklaces. Bought another as a Christmas gift. She loved it

I bought this book for my grandmother, who is a jewelry-smith now that she is retired. I also do some metalsmithing, although nothing like her. We both loved this book! It was beautiful and interesting and had lots of neat and inspirational ideas. My grandmother in particular liked that all the materials were listed for every item. She did complain, however, that fewer pieces than expected were traditional metalwork. Personally I thought the use of so many new materials to be quite interesting. The biggest drawback I found was that all of the pieces were very modern or contemporary in style, which, given the title, is to be expected.Overall, a great idea book, with beautiful pictures and useful descriptions.

Inspiring images

This book is consistant with Lark's other offerings, namely, a book of fairly well done photographs of some category of object. However, if you're unfamiliar with their work, be warned that about one third of the stuff shown falls into the category of experimental student projects and conceptual art. For example, a pendant made from an ice cube.. I have most of the series, and as a jeweler/designer, use them for reference and inspiration.

Great book. excellent for reference and for seeing how other's have challenged the boundary's of jewelry making. Arrived record speed, great condition.

These books are great inspiration for jewellery designers, the series covers a lot of different techniques and materials. Hope to collect all.

Was looking for a good book on color. Highly recommend this little gem!It's helps clarify a few things if you are a beginner. Its also a great refresher if you are more advanced. The way color was explained and broken down really helped me understand how to see and achieve what I wanted to paint.

The simplest and most straightforward book on colour theory that I've read. The charts are really useful. It's very much like being part of a Patti Mollica workshop. Get all her books and make a breakthrough in your painting.

kind of an ordinary book, probably good for beginners

I am impressed by the range of color information in this book. I am not impressed by the poor quality of the color examples. And that's a frustrating feeling. Samples that are described as cad yellow are green, other colors lack vibrancy and appear bland. Poor print quality reduces the value of the information that is in the book.

First off, I LOVE THIS BOOK - personally because Rebekah's approach to mediation is down to earth and practical for even the busiest person. I first discovered her a few years ago on YouTube when I googled "how to meditate"...because like so many others, I thought I sucked at it. I thought I didn't have time. Turns out neither one of those things are true. This book is authentic and real, and provides the reader with guidance and tools to create a mediation practice that fits into their lives and feels authentic to them.Secondly, I LOVE THIS BOOK PROFESSIONALLY - I can recommend it to my clients. Since adding these practices that Rebekah has taught online for years and now eloquently brought to life in this book, into my crazy life - I've actually found my bliss. I went back to school (a couple of schools actually), quit my soul-sucking corporate America job to pursue wellness and lifestyle coaching soon to be opening my own Wellness studio, complete with mediation space. You can bet this book will be one I have available for my clients to read.

posted by wife of account holder:first of, let me say i have not finished the book by a long shot, but i am already loving it! i already feel like this is it! finally, i will learn how to properly meditate! #meditatedontmedicate I have tried meditating previously but give up because i can't stay focused so i assume i am failing. in this book, she acknowledges that no one is perfect and we can get distracted. it happens. this book provides great tools and knowledge to help you learn to mediate properly. no more guess. no more "i think this is what i am supposed to do", finally, i have a guide.i love that she states that meditation does not belong to any one religion. as a Christian, i have encountered people who see this as a a strictly Buddhist practice and, as such, anti Christian. i have never felt that to be the case and that, also, is acknowledged in this book. exercise is another great stress reliever. does THAT belong to one religion? no. it is for everyone and to help everyone.i LOVE LOVE LOVE that the author connects you to more books that have helped her grow, more facebook groups and guides that will help you grow, AND gives you gifts! :)i believe that meditation truly can help you grow. if you are wanting to find out more about meditation, this is a great book to lead you in the right direction. you will not be disappointed!

I love this book! Rebekah has written a treasure trove of meditations for daily use. The book is written in a personal, conversational style - you feel as if you are sitting in an easy chair sipping tea with her. It's well organized and has a meditation for every need you may have. The meditations are short as she has promised and she guides you through them with understanding. This is definitely a book for those who may have avoided meditation because they dread sitting for 20 minutes or more trying to clear their minds. You will want to keep this book nearby as a reference for daily meditations. I've tried a few and they really work!

his is the best book on meditation I've ever read. It's accessible, simple without being condescending, not overtly spiritual (at least not enough to make this atheist uncomfortable), and there are real moments of humor in it.The author does a great job of using vignettes from her life to show how meditation can help anyone.I'm not doing 4 minutes every day, but I've done more meditation since picking up the book than I'd done in a long time. I find that getting up before the rest of my family is the best time for me to spend my four minutes. (I get up, start the coffee, meditate, and then am rewarded with inner peace and inner caffeine.)Fair warning, though. This book made me cry. There were so many bits and pieces that I desperately needed to hear and it triggered a major emotional response.Your situation may look like a mess. That's real. But you are not that mess.^^This^^It's been a tough year. Between the divorce and losing my day job, things have felt pretty desperate, and it's hard to look at my situation and separate it from me. Reading this book was like shining a light on the darkness I've been harboring.Side note: I had a conversation with a dear friend last week. He asked me how he could assure a friend that she wasn't a failure because (a) her relationship failed, (b) no one liked her erstwhile partner, and (c) she didn't know said partner was unsuitable right away, and even when she knew, she stayed for a bit. Just when I started to get back on my feet post-divorce, I lost my job. Unemployment doesn't cover my living expenses, and I quickly ran through my savings. So much of my self-worth is tied into my financial independence. I am not currently at a place of financial independence, and I'm so very fortunate that I have people willing to help me out until I am back to that place.Rebekah asks:If I separate myself form the idea that I don't have enough money right now, how do I feel? Can I feel contentment even if these so-called negative circumstances remain true?You know what? When I'm not stressed about money, I feel pretty damn content with my life. Obviously pretending that I have money I don't have is not going to work out as a career-path (I'm guessing I can't pay my car loan with contentment points), but it's easier to breath when I remind myself that my current lack of solvency is not a reflection on my self-worth.This book came at a time in my life when I needed those reminders - it's so important to take the time to separate yourself, the parts that make you you, from the circumstances you find yourself in. Sure, in part, you shape your world, but just because things are hard, or crappy doesn't mean you have to internalize it.I plan on continuing to follow the meditations in the book. The one I've been using the last couple of weeks is "You Have 4 Minutes to Accept Where You Are in the Moment." The mantras associated with this meditation are exactly what I need to remind myself of every day.I am not broken or in need of fixing.I am worthy of being heard and of being loved as I am in this moment.My inner voice is wise, and I allow myself to listen to it without judgment.If you're interested in starting a meditation practice but are intimidated by the idea of quieting your mind for 30 minutes, this is the place for you. Four minutes doesn't sound like a lot, but it's really making a difference for me.
