If you are a student of Bible prophecy this book, like the Left Behind series, has a certain predictability, but Rosenberg tried to use current events. Because of when it was written it seems a little dated, but keeps moving. My main problem with the book is what seemed liked excessive use of acronyms (because he was dealing with lots of government agencies and espionage) and there are so many characters it is hard to keep track some of the time... but it is part of a series so some are introduced because they will be more developed later. Take your time in reading
I have just started reading this first book and I am on just page 48 and I am riveted, the writing immediately draws you in, you feel like you are right there living the characters lives, you know you have a really good book when you forget it's a book but all your emotions are immediately activated an your really care about the characters who seem like real people. Excellent, excellent writing, excellent prose , wonderful story teller, I can't wait to see that happens next.
This is another excellent thriller by Joel Rosenberg. I am accustomed to thrillers, but this one had me hating to put it down when duty called. The author takes us back to the time of Saddam Hussein as dictator of Iraq. But this time, he has nuclear weapons and the ICBM's to carry them to wipe out his enemies. As a starter, assassins try to kill the President of the United States. They nearly succeed, and it is fascinating to see how the Secret Service, FBI, CIA, and Defense Department work together to protect the President and try to block Iraq's nuclear threat. The story is a thriller from start to finish, and I recommend it.
Jon Bennett is a Wall Street genius trained at making calculated risks to earn millions. He is thrown into an international plot to assassinate the US President and wipe Israel off the face of the earth. He will hold an Uzi once in this premier episode, lose one of the most inspirational warriors he's ever known, and face the remaining 'fourth horseman' terrorist. Hopefully he will find true purpose, meaning and life through Christ and the soul mate God has provided for him. First he must survive the life-threatening attack on his life, on the life of the US President and country. The 'The Last Jihad' series is well-worth the read. I've just ordered, 'The Last Days,' because there are too many 'so what now's' to continue this series.
Thought I would give Rosenberg a try, so glad I did. I picked this book up and laid it down in 4 days, scheww what a ride! Great details, yet not overboard. I'm a huge Brad Thor fan, and this book read as fast and furious. It is really nice to read a political spy thriller w/o the cursing and gore, sometimes attached to this genre. Very nice that Rosenberg includes Scripture in the text, leading the reader to Christ. Now I wish I would've ordered this series, as I'm now a fan. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that in the final chapters he has several dialogues and scenes intertwined making it a bit much to comprehend while being fully engaged in the book.
I am an avid reader. Usually read the Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Tom Clancy genre. I have 15 books lined up, yet to read.Came across Joel Rosenbergs name by accident. Read the Amazon reviews, and decided to take a chance on "The Last Jihad." WOW!!!! After reading the book, I immediately started "The Last Days," the second book of the serie. Then ordered the final 3 books of the series.Will not give away any of the plot. Yes, character development is lacking. But its the events, and not the characters that makes these books absolutrly super.But for the record, the protagonist is not your usual former CIA/FBI/SEAL/DELTA FORCE type of hero. Instead he is a 40 year old financial advisor who hates guns snd is afraid of violence.Just a bit of advice. READ THESE BOOKS
I was confused by this book, thinking it was a recent release & that Rosenberg had resurrected Saddam Hussein for the sake of the story. Midway through the book iI looked it up on another device and discovered it was written in 2002, which made events a bit clearer. The story was exciting & like all his books, very readable. It would have been even moreso had I known the publish date before reading. My bad. Good book.

The author is quite authentic in his portrayal and extremely gifted in his presentation. His characters depict both intellectual and emotional contrasts and mirror reality. He takes sad yet truthful experiences and gives the reader a chance to accept the probability yet hope for the best. The culture has progressed since the first publication of this book, and Joel Rosenberg's earlier thoughts have proved true in present-day news reports. Coupling his non-fiction books with his fiction is a remarkable study as one views current events. I am excited to finish the three books which follow in the series.
